I have learnt the art of self acceptance...

My Name is Nthabiseng Sedibe I am 25 years old and stay in a small town called knysna in South Africa.

Nthabiseng is a very bubbly person love doing things exploring and learning new things. I am one person who has a big heart and see the best out of people. Nthabiseng is a beautiful young lady that loves looking nice and feeling nice. I love to sing love to cook and I'm very good when it comes to computers.

I have a condition called TMAU which is an abbreviation for Trimethylaminuria.

Basically Trimethylaminuria is an uncommon condition that causes an unpleasant fishy odour. It's also called fishy odour. It's caused by faulty gene's that a person inherits from their parent but this is not always the case.

The body is unable to turn a strong - smelling chemical called trimethylamine- which is produced in the gut when bacteria break down certain foods into a different chemical that does not smell. This means Trimethylamine builds up in the body and gets into body fluids like sweet. I had this condition for more than I can remember I would like to think that in my case I inherited it from my parents because my father also have the symptoms but my mother don't.

It's been hard living with such a rare condition the bullying and everything but regardless of that I am still strong as ever and has accepted myself the way I am.

Regardless of all that alot has changed ever since I have joined the rare diseases organization. It has made me feel welcomed a sense of belonging that I am not alone and there are also other people who have the same condition that I have and who understand how I feel. It has made me to accept my self the way I am and to be confident in my own skin.

Thank you so much for the platform you have created for people such as myself and others to be able to share our stories and share awareness to people about our conditions.
